Scientists at BC Children’s Hospital are using groundbreaking research technology created by STEMCELL Technologies that automates the cultivation of stem cells. This innovation, the first of its kind globally, promises to significantly accelerate the development of new treatments and diagnostics for children with severe illnesses by speeding up stem cell production.

Traditionally, the process of growing stem cells was labor-intensive and prone to human error, limiting scientists to working on samples from only a few patients at a time. However, with this new automated system, the capacity has expanded to culture cells from up to 85 patients simultaneously, eliminating the risk of contamination and mistakes.
