Sonic hedgehog (Shh) 是分泌信号蛋白 Hedgehog 家族的成员，在哺乳动物早期发育模式形成过程中发挥着重要作用 (Ho & Scott）。它在多种组织的早期胚胎发生过程中表达 (Finco et al.)。在中枢神经系统模式形成过程中，Shh 直接作用于细胞以决定神经细胞的命运，调节少突胶质细胞前体细胞和神经嵴细胞的增殖和存活，并刺激其增殖、分化和轴突生长 (Ho & Scott; Martí)。Shh 还调节 T 细胞的分化和活化 (Crompton et al.)。重组小鼠 Shh 是一种具有完全生物活性的分子。

(A) The biological activity of Mouse Recombinant Shh was tested by its ability to promote alkaline phosphatase production of CCL-226 cells. Alkaline phosphatase production was measured using a fluorometric assay method. The EC50 is defined as the effective concentration of the growth factor at which cell proliferation is at 50% of maximum. The EC50 in the above example is 0.8 μg/mL.
(B) 2 μg of Mouse Recombinant Shh was resolved with SDS-PAGE under reducing (+) and non-reducing (-) conditions and visualized by Coomassie Blue staining. Mouse Recombinant Shh has a predicted molecular mass of 19.8 kDa.
