肝素结合表皮生长因子（EGF）样生长因子（HBEGF）是EGF家族的一员（Nishi & Klagsbrun）。HBEGF促进囊胚与子宫壁的粘附（Iwamoto & Mekada）。它还在平滑肌细胞增生和脑损伤中发挥作用（Nishi & Klagsburn）。CD4+ T细胞产生的HBEGF通过刺激角质形成细胞、成纤维细胞和平滑肌细胞的迁移和增殖来促进伤口愈合（Blotnick等）。它与EGFR、ErbB4、ErbB2和ErbB3结合，激活PI3K/AKT信号级联（Iwamoto & Mekada）。HBEGF在多种细胞中产生，并参与生理和病理过程。HBEGF在卵巢癌、乳腺癌、胃癌、结肠直肠癌、胰腺癌和子宫内膜癌中过表达，这可能导致发病机制（Miyata等）。

(A) The biological activity of Human Recombinant HBEGF was tested by its ability to promote the proliferation of 3T3 cells. Cell proliferation was measured using a fluorometric assay method. The EC50 is defined as the effective concentration of the growth factor at which cell proliferation is at 50% of maximum. The EC50 in the example above is less than 0.75 ng/mL. (B) 2 μg of Human Recombinant HBEGF was resolved with SDS-PAGE under reducing (+) and non-reducing (-) conditions and visualized by Coomassie Blue staining. Human Recombinant HBEGF has a predicted molecular mass of 9.7 kDa.
