白介素5 （IL-5）是造血细胞因子短链4-α-螺旋束亚群中的一员。它与由 IL-5Ra（特异于 IL-5R）和 IL-3 和 GM-CSF 受体共用的 β 链（Shearer）组成的受体结合。IL-5 与受体结合后，可激活 JAK/STAT 和 MAPK 通路。IL-5 由 Th2 细胞、嗜酸性粒细胞和活化的肥大细胞产生。它参与嗜酸性粒细胞的募集、激活、增殖和存活，因此在过敏性炎症、哮喘和寄生虫免疫中起重要作用。IL-5刺激嗜酸性粒细胞可导致其活化、CD11b表达上调和细胞凋亡抑制（Shearer）。

(A) The biological activity of Human Recombinant IL-5 was tested by its ability to promote the proliferation of TF-1 cells. Cell proliferation was measured after 62 hours of culture using a fluorometric assay method. The EC50 is defined as the effective concentration of the growth factor at which cell proliferation is at 50% of maximum. The EC50 in the above example is 0.13 - 0.2 ng/mL.
(B) 1 μg of Human Recombinant IL-5 was resolved with SDS-PAGE under reducing (+) and non-reducing (-) conditions and visualized by Coomassie Blue staining. Human Recombinant IL-5 is a homodimer of 13.3 kDa subunits and has a predicted total molecular mass of 26.6 kDa.
